The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed a fresh 16-count charge against the Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello at an FCT High Court in Abuja bordering on criminal breach of trust to the tune of N110.4 billion.
The new 16-count charge is to be faced by the former governor and two officials of the Kogi State government, Abdulsalami Hudu and Umar Oricha.
The defendants were alleged to have used state funds from the Kogi state treasury to acquire properties in highbrow areas within the FCT including Maitama, Gwarimpa, Asokoro, Wuse, Guzape, and in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Yahya Bello has since been on the watch list of the EFCC as he has been declared wanted after the law enforcement officials were unable to arrest him. The former governor also visited the EFCC Headquarters with the incumbent governor of Kogi state in a show of surrender, however he left the building shortly after in his entourage. He has missed his court appearances and has been placed on the watch list of other countries.
