Reality TV star and entrepreneur, Natasha Akide, better known as Tacha, has opened up about her decision to host her Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for the most makeovers in 24 hours in Lagos, Nigeria, rather than the United Kingdom, where it was originally planned.
Speaking during a short break at her ongoing Tacha Beauty Festival, currently taking place at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History in Lagos, Tacha shared her deep-rooted connection to the country and the creative potential she aims to highlight.
“The plan was London. We already had plans, we had a brand that wanted to sponsor us, NYX,” Tacha said, reflecting on the initial preparations for the event. “But I said, London is not that country that will give me the vibe I want. Then I thought, see my people, they are here. It always makes sense to carry your country along. At this point now, I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a freaking global map,” she continued with passion.
Tacha revealed that the idea for the record attempt had been in the works for two years, and she believes now is the perfect moment to bring her vision to life. “Now is the time,” she stated, excitement evident in her voice.
Tacha, who gained fame on the Big Brother Naija reality show during its Pepper Dem season, began her world record attempt on the night of Saturday, October 10, 2025, with the ambitious goal of completing 150 makeovers in just 24 hours. By early Sunday morning, she had already surpassed the previous record of 113 makeovers, completing 115 within the first 12 hours.
The event is part of the three-day Tacha Beauty Festival, which celebrates beauty, culture, and resilience, running from October 10 to 12, 2025. Throughout the event, Tacha has remained determined, despite facing minor challenges, including power disruptions during Saturday’s session. Nevertheless, she maintained a rapid pace, completing each makeover in a matter of minutes before sending models to a photo booth and runway for display.
This world record attempt is deeply personal for Tacha, as she dedicated the effort to her late mother. “My drive and passion for success are deeply personal,” she said, her voice softening with emotion. “This is for her.”
The festival has also provided a platform for Tacha to continue her mission of empowering and showcasing Nigerian talent to the world. As the world watches, Tacha is not only pushing the limits of beauty and creativity but also solidifying Nigeria’s place on the global beauty map.
