In the most anticipated election of 2024, Former Republican president, Donald Trump is close to the finish line as he needs just a handful of electoral votes to defeat Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
The election which ended on Tuesday saw millions of American citizens casting their votes in one of the most invested elections to hold in the United States.
US media have thus far projected that Trump has won in more than half of the 50 US states, including three key battlegrounds Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, two of which voted Democratic in the last election.
With 266 electoral votes, 4 votes short of the 270 needed to win the presidency, news media has already called the race in Trump’s favor. Harris is behind with 195 electoral votes, including big prizes California and New York — as well as the US capital, Washington.
