The Commander of One Brigade, Nigerian Army, Gusau, Brigadier General Timothy Opurum, has said that troops of One Brigade under Operation Fansar Yamma have significantly reduced terrorists’ activities in their area of responsibility, covering Kebbi and Zamfara states.
General Opurum made this declaration on Tuesday evening during a Sallah luncheon with officers, soldiers, and their families at the Brigade Cantonment in Gusau.
According to him, the security situation was previously challenging, but through sustained military operations and the dedication of troops, the army has gained dominance over the region and curtailed terrorist activities to a large extent.
“The One Brigade has been doing well in our operation especially the ongoing operation forest sanity III, you will recall that some few months back it was not that easy but with efforts of our troops, efforts of our officers, we have been able to dominate our AOR and Subdue the terrorists to a very large extent.”
The Commander commended the troops for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment, noting that in recognition of their efforts, the Chief of Army Staff has approved additional logistics support to enhance their operations further.
He urged the soldiers to maintain their momentum, redoubling efforts to ensure all states in the Northwest are secured for peace and economic development.
“Because of the feat we have achieved, the Chief of Army Staff has graciously approved certain logistics for us to continue our operation, it means to whom much is given, much is expected, it means we need to double our efforts, it is not yet uhuru, there is still a lot of work to be done.”
“We must continue to fight until we destroy all enemies of the state and make Zamfara State, Kebbi State and all states within the Northwest region of this operation to be safe and secure for socio-economic progress.”
The event also featured a moment of silence in honor of fallen soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty
