President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors-designate 31 career and 34 non-career to various countries and the United Nations, following their confirmation by the Senate in December 2025.
The list includes prominent figures such as Senator Grace Bent, posted to Lomé, Togo Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau to Beijing, China and Mr. Reno Omokri to Mexico City, Mexico. Other notable postings include Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany, and Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom.
In the career ambassadorial category, envoys have been assigned to countries including Cote d’Ivoire, Niger, Egypt, India, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Morocco, among others.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agreement from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Aminu Dalhatu, as well as from France for Ambassador Ayo Oke. Agreement requests for the remaining 62 envoys have been forwarded to their respective host countries in accordance with standard diplomatic practice.
President Tinubu has directed the Ministry to immediately commence an induction programme for all ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their departure.
The postings mark a significant step in filling Nigeria’s diplomatic missions worldwide, more than a year after the recall of some ambassadors.
