TERRORIST ATTACK LEAVES SCORES OF MILITARY INJURED AND MISSING IN BORNO

A devastating operation by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State, has led to the loss of lives of an unspecified number of Nigerian soldiers, with many others still unaccounted for.

The deadly attack which occurred on Saturday, January 4, 2025, was intense and prolonged according to sources who spoke to Sahara Reporters.

The terrorists had reportedly stormed the Sabon Gari camp under the 25 Task Force Brigade around 4 a.m., wielding an array of sophisticated weapons and so far seven bodies have been recovered.

During the attack, the insurgents razed multiple buildings and destroyed operational military vehicles, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

The increasing disturbance of terrorists in the region has been highlighted by this attack. The North East has been plagued with attacks from ISWAP and Boko Haram.

Following the demise of the former leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP has strengthened its hold around Lake Chad, attracting defectors and expanding its operational base.

While the Nigerian Army says it is committed to wiping out the terrorism from the country, the terror group has killed many people and displaced millions of individuals mainly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.
