Suspected Boko Haram Attack Leaves Destruction in Adamawa’s Kwapre Village

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have launched a devastating attack on Kwapre and surrounding villages in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, wreaking havoc on the communities.

The attack began at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, and stretched into the early hours of Wednesday, February 26. Eyewitnesses reported that buildings, including schools, homes, and businesses, were set on fire, and valuable assets were looted by the armed attackers.

Kwapre village head, Joel Kulaha, and his counterpart from King village, Abalis Jawaja, shared details of the assault with our correspondent. They described how the heavily armed insurgents stormed their communities, burning structures and stealing whatever they could.

Despite the scale of the attack, it was reported that no lives were lost. Residents had been warned ahead of time about the insurgents’ movements and fled their homes before the attackers arrived.

“We escaped with our lives, but everything we own is gone,” Kulaha said, expressing the devastation of losing all their possessions.

Soldiers stationed in nearby Garaha town responded to the attack after a delay, engaging the insurgents in a gun battle that eventually forced them to retreat. However, by the time the military intervened, the damage was already done.

This latest attack marks the continuation of Boko Haram’s relentless assaults on Kwapre, a village that has suffered multiple attacks in the past.
