The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has commenced the issuance of 1st batch Offer of Provisional Allocation to the Outright Subscribers of Houses under the Housing Programme (NationalNHP).
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, disclosed this in Abuja.
The issuance of the 1st batch offer of provisional allocation which began in April 2024 was sequel to the review of the conditions and procedures for the sales of houses under the NHP conveyed on December 29, 2023, via a circular Ref no. DPBH/645/1/43.
In a statement, Ogunbiyi disclosed that a number of outright payment subscribers have completed their payments, while some have started making deposit payments, but have yet to complete their payments.
Accordingly, he also reminded the subscribers under the 1st batch offer of provisional allocation of the NHP housing units that the validity period for the completion of all payments was 90 days.
” By this information, the ministry is informing all the 1st batch outright subscribers who are yet to complete their payments for the houses offered them, that a grace of eight weeks is now given to them within which they are advised to complete all their payments ” he said.
The permanent secretary further stated that any subscriber who fails to complete payment within the eight-week grace period will have his offer revoked.
Recall that in May 2024, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa had promised that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration had taken pragmatic steps to fast-track the sale and occupation of the housing units across the country.
“We advertised Expression of Interest forms with four windows of subscription to give room for all income segments of Nigerians as follows: Outright Payment Mortgage, Rent-to-Own and Instalment Payment.
“We received a total of 8,925 Expression of Interest. This comprises 1,294 for outright purchase, 2,408 for a mortgage, 2,184 for rent-to-own and 3,039 for Instalment payment,” he noted.
