The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lere Olayinka, has strongly dismissed allegations made by activist Omoyele Sowore regarding a supposed assassination plot involving President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Olayinka, speaking in a statement issued from Abuja on Saturday, called Sowore’s accusations “mind games,” aimed at sustaining his controversial public image. He stressed that there was no reason for either the President or the FCT Minister to target the activist, urging Sowore to focus on his ongoing criminal trial rather than making reckless claims against national leaders.
In his statement, Olayinka suggested that any threats to Sowore’s life could stem from individuals whom he has previously blackmailed, further distancing President Tinubu and Minister Wike from any such accusations. He emphasized, “If there is any threat to Sowore’s life, it is linked to his own actions and those he has wronged in the past.”
Olayinka, unrelenting in his defence of the two leaders, dismissed Sowore’s recent criticisms of Minister Wike, dismissing them as “the last kick of a dying horse.” He suggested that the activist’s attempts to play the victim were merely attempts to distract from the impending consequences of his legal battles.
“Sowore is fully aware of the seriousness of the charges against him. His allegations of an assassination plot are unfounded and nothing more than part of his usual mind games,” Olayinka concluded.
