Soludo Casts Vote in Hometown as Anambra Decides Governor’s Fate

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State arrived at his polling unit in Aguata Local Government Area on Saturday afternoon to cast his vote in the state’s governorship election.

The incumbent governor, who is seeking a second term under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) platform, reached Polling Unit 002, Umuezeadigo Street, in his hometown of Isuofia community at exactly 1:13 pm.

Soludo’s arrival at the polling station came several hours after voting commenced across the state, where 16 candidates from different political parties are vying for the governorship position.

Before Saturday’s poll, the governor had made a passionate appeal to Anambra residents to turn out en masse to exercise their franchise. He described the election as a crucial opportunity for citizens to determine the direction of the state’s future.

The APGA candidate had previously characterised his re-election campaign as “a divine project and a people-driven movement,” stating that it represents the collective desire of Ndi Anambra for continuity and sustained development.

The governorship election is taking place across all 21 local government areas of Anambra State, with voters deciding who will lead the state for the next four years.

Election observers and journalists have been stationed at various polling units across the state to monitor the exercise and ensure transparency in the electoral process.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is overseeing the conduct of the poll, which kicked off earlier in the day despite initial reports of technical hitches with the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in some locations.

Results from the election are expected to be collated and announced in the coming days, following the completion of voting and counting procedures across all polling units in the state.
