The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has disclosed that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have occupied its office in Abuja.
They made this statement on their X handle on monday.
The group also added that the operatives are demanding to see its directors.
According to their post:
“Officers from Nigeria’s State Security Service (SSS) are presently unlawfully occupying SERAP’s office in Abuja, asking to see our directors,” the post reads.
“President Tinubu must immediately direct the SSS to end the harassment, intimidation and attack on the rights of Nigerians.”
The invasion by the DSS is coming hours after SERAP urged Tinubu to direct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to reverse the hike in pump price of petrol.
Reacting to the arrest, Inibehe Effiong, A lawyer said on his X handle: “The invasion of SERAP’s Abuja office by the SSS is unacceptable. The President Tinubu’s regime must end the attack on dissent.”
