Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has called for live coverage of her ongoing probe proceedings at the Senate, asserting that Nigerians have a right to witness the process. The senator, who is under investigation by the Senate’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee following a confrontation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over a seating dispute, made it clear that she would not accept the matter being handled in secrecy.
In a statement posted on her Facebook page Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan revealed that while she had previously chosen not to publicly address the issue or other Senate developments, she felt it was time to speak out. She emphasized her commitment to full transparency and urged Nigerians to stay informed as the proceedings unfold.
“I have refrained from speaking publicly on this matter and other Senate happenings under Senate President Akpabio, but now it is time to break my silence,” she said in her post. “I insist that the probe be broadcast live for all Nigerians to follow. These upcoming days will be pivotal, shaping the standard and future of Nigeria’s leadership.”
The senator’s call for transparency comes at a time of increasing scrutiny over Senate activities and leadership. Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s insistence on a live broadcast reflects her determination to hold the Senate accountable and ensure the process remains open to the public.
