Following the presence of armed security personnel at the palace of the Emir of Kano on Friday, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, has sent a message of peace to his supporters, urging them to avoid taking the law into their hands.
Tension had earlier broken out in Kano today as security operatives blocked the palace of the Emir, preventing the Emir from attending a royal ceremony in Bichi Local Government Area.
Efforts by the Governor of Kano State who sent a delegation to the Emirs palace proved abortive as they could not gain access to the Emir.
The reason for the Emir’s house arrest and the powers involved is still unknown.
However, Emir Sanusi II who was scheduled to accompany the newly appointed Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, to his official district posting in Bichi, spoke to his supporters to not fall into the traps of the enemies of Kano who wish to incite violence in the state.
He preached patience and asked them to shun violence while delivering the Friday sermon at the Emirates Juma’at Mosque.
