Presidency Dismisses Viral Video Alleging Poison Plot Against Tinubu

The Presidency has described as completely false a viral video circulating on social media which alleged that a chef attached to the Presidential Villa was arrested over plans to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The video, which spread rapidly across various platforms over the weekend, claimed security operatives had apprehended a member of the presidential kitchen staff following intelligence reports of suspicious activities related to food preparation in restricted areas of the Villa.

According to the widely-shared content, a special police squad was allegedly deployed, resulting in heightened security around the presidential precinct.

The report further suggested that the unnamed kitchen staff member was taken into custody for questioning while authorities examined evidence relating to the supposed poisoning attempt.

The circulating narrative claimed the alleged arrest stemmed from what it described as credible threats to the President’s safety, supposedly triggering a coordinated investigation by security personnel responsible for protecting the nation’s leadership.However, responding to the development, the Presidency has categorically refuted the claims.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, labelled the video “fake news,” emphasising that the story was entirely fabricated and should be dismissed.
