The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced that its official website has been compromised by unknown hackers. This was revealed in a statement shared on the bureau’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.
The NBS advised the public to ignore any information or reports attributed to the bureau from unofficial sources until the website is fully restored. The bureau assured that its technical team is working diligently to resolve the issue.
The statement read, “This is to inform the public that the NBS website has been hacked, and we are working to recover it. Please disregard any message or report posted until the website is fully restored.”
A visit to the website confirmed the breach, with the homepage displaying the message “Page Hacked.” Subsequent attempts to access the site returned an “Internal Server Error” message, directing users to contact the server administrator at webmaster@nigerianstat.gov.ng for more details.
