NEMA Deploys Team to Kwara for Assessment, Aid Following Bandit Attacks

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has mobilized a response team to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State in the wake of recent bandit attacks on the Woro and Nuku communities.

Director-General Zubaida Umar ordered the deployment from the agency’s Minna Operations Office, instructing personnel to temporarily relocate to the affected zones. The team’s primary mandate is to conduct a detailed on-ground assessment of the damage and evaluate the immediate needs of the impacted residents.

In a statement released by the agency’s national spokesman, Ezekiel Manzo, Umar emphasized a coordinated approach. “I have instructed our team to work closely with local authorities and security agencies to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response,” she stated.The assessment is being carried out jointly with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and relevant security operatives.

Alongside the evaluation, NEMA has initiated the distribution of relief supplies. Food and non-food items have been dispatched and are currently being delivered to support victims displaced or affected by the violence.

Umar extended her sympathies to the communities and the Kwara State Government, reaffirming NEMA’s commitment. “We are committed to providing necessary assistance to help these communities recover from this unfortunate incident,” she assured.

The intervention aims to provide urgent support and lay the groundwork for recovery efforts in the troubled localities.
