The incident that happened during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport, Delta State, between Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, also known as Mr Jollof and Martins Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan on Monday, November 17th has received significant attention over their misconduct in a public place.
Mr Jollof, has however apologised for the brawl on the flight.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, he apologised to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), his boss, the Delta state Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, his wife and kids, as well as the passengers that boarded the aircraft and other Nigerians for fighting in public.
According to Mr Jollof, he was only defending himself after VDM walked up to him to harass him and “3000 mg” of blows were delivered to the social media critic during their fight.
He said, “I want to use this medium to sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and the passengers that boarded the airline. I was only defending myself. You guys saw what happened, and I am very sorry if I delayed your appointment. Pardon me. This isn’t my kind of person. It will never happen again.
“To my lovely wife, I know you’re proud of me. To my kids, I am sorry, Daddy will never do this again. To my boss, I am very sorry, this isn’t my kind of person”.
Recounting how the fight started, Mr Jollof stated that while he was seated inside the aircraft, VDM began making provocative comments at him.
“If we come down from this plane, I go slap you. Make God punish your papa. I fit commot from here now come slap you” VDM told him, and he responded saying, “Behave yourself.”
He stated that afterwards, VDM walked to him, and he had to defend himself immediately, which led to the fight.
On why he bit VDM on the chest during the fight, Jollof added, “Mike Tyson the fighter, he used what God gave him. When you carry knife come gun battle, anything when you see you go take am’.
However, VDM also shared his own side of the story and said he approached Mr Jollof on the plane to confront him about their feud.
He claimed the situation turned physical after Mr Jollof threw the first punch, forcing him to defend himself.
VDM also said he was bitten during the fight, joking that it almost ruined his tattoo.
He wrote: “MR JOLLOF YOU B!T me, your fellow man. Haba JOLLOF WOULD HAVE KPAI ME IF I DIDN’T DEFEND MYSELF, GOD SAVED ME.
United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) reportedly handed both men to airport security.
Recall that VDM and Jollof have been involved in heated exchanges on social media in the past, after Otse dragged the comedian’s wife into their drama, alleging that she sleeps with Yahoo boys.
