JAMB extends 16 year age limit for admission to August 2025

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that students who will be 16 by August 31st 2025 can be enrolled in institutions of higher learning nation wide.

This announcement was made on Thursday by the apex admissions board in Nigeria. The submission now extends the deadline for age limit for higher education.

The minimum age for admission in tertiary institutions were reviewed this year at the 2024 Policy meeting. The Minister of Education has earlier pegged the age at 18 years after which it was reviewed.

The policy meeting has now set the age limit for the 2024/25 academic session at 16 years, and the deadline for this age to be December 31, 2024.

The extension is to accommodate schools admission which is expected to run from now till July 2025. However, the minimum age for tertiary education shall be increased to 18 years.
