The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has instructed police officers to refrain from wearing dark glasses while in uniform, as violations of this directive will attract disciplinary actions.
According to reports, the directive is effective immediately, and was sent through a wireless message dated Tuesday, January 21, 2025, to all zonal and state commands within the police force.
The wireless message, was acquired by SaharaReporters and identified as CB:4001/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.121/104, on Thursday.
The communique reads: “INGENPOL has observed with concern x prevalent practice of personnel wearing dark glasses while in uniform x this attitude reflects poorly on the Force x deemed unacceptable x consequently x INGENPOL directs that henceforth all police personnel x should refrain from wearing dark glasses x while in uniform x violation of this directive will attract severe disciplinary action x you are to make this subject of lecture x.
“Ensure strict compliance x treat as very important please.”
