The Independent corrupt practices and other related crimes commission has arrested the former commissioner of finance and accountant General of Kaduna State, Shizzer Joy Nasara Bada, on Sunday at the Lagos International Airport.
Bada served as a commissioner under the tenure of former governor Nasiru El-Rufai.
Her arrest has raised eyebrows as she was apprehended while trying to leave the country that Sunday. The suspicion of her potential escape in the wake of increasing allegations against El-Rufai’s administration in Kaduna sprung the action of the law enforcement body who are currently conducting an investigation.
The arrest of Bada is not surprising as other officials who served under El-Rufai’s administration are currently under investigation for their role in managing the state’s finance.
Already, El-Rufai has been indicted by the state House of Assembly in its Committee report of alleged misappropriation of N423 billion from the state treasury.
The specific allegations against Bada are not yet revealed to the public, but it is believed to be linked to the allegations against the former governor.
While Bada’s arrest has sparked widespread interest, the ICPC has hinted that more high profile arrest could follow as investigations unfold the role of key officials during El-Rufai’s tenure.
The Commission is expected to reveal the outcome of its investigation as well as expose the activities of corrupt officials.
