His Treasure House International Ministries Commissions Renovated Classrooms, Urges AMAC to Prioritize School Development

An Abuja-based Church, His Treasure House International Ministries has commissioned a renovated block of classrooms and a teacher’s quarters at the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, Durumi II, AMAC FCT just as the pupils of the school resumed from a month-long strike in protest of the non-payment of 60% of owed arrears by the Area Councils.

The Commissioning and handing over ceremony took place at the Primary School on Monday, 21st October 2024.

In his opening remarks at the event, the Lead Pastor of the Church, Pastor Godwin Uwubamen, recounted the Church’s efforts and involvement in different community impact projects since its inception 14 years ago. He noted that these efforts are linked to the welfare and development of communities where the church is planted.

He explained that this year, the church took a step further from the usual distribution of school materials to the renovation of a block of classrooms and a teachers’ quarters.

“With this project, the children of LEA school and their administrative staff will find it more convenient to study and make living around the school a bit more comfortable,” he stated.

Pastor Uwubamen outlined some community impact projects undertaken by His Treasure House International to include: the yearly back to school project where indigent students are assisted with educational materials, the ‘skip a meal’ project where the church distributes free food stuffs to those in need within their local community as well as the ‘M500’, a medical outreach programme that caters to the sick in the community. Another project he identified was the police support initiative to support the police stations around the community where the church is located and the prison support ministry carried out by the Missions team periodically to show the love of Christ. He added that scholarships are provided to indigent students in public schools in the city of Abuja through donations by church members.

While expressing his optimism that the “back to school project” will help bring out the giants in the children, empowering them to become better citizens of the country, Pastor Uwubamen urged the government to double up its efforts towards improving school development. He said,

“I would like to use this medium to ask and appeal to the government, especially the local government (AMAC) to do more for their schools, schools like this which do not have facilities like many private schools in society.” He appealed to the government to support the children to make the nation a better place.

Also speaking, the Resident Pastor, Pastor Bode Peters Odenusi who gave the welcome address, noted that the back to school project is a yearly programme, and the church is back again this year. He said the community impact initiative of His Treasure House International Ministries is conscious of the fact that God loves the pupils and the church loves the pupils as they are the future of the nation.

In her comment, the Head Teacher of the School, Mrs Franca Durhen Kaslong, filled with gratitude, joy and prayers for the church said: “when the school seemed to be going down, God in heaven sent his angels from His Treasure House International to lift the school up the way He has lifted His Treasure House, you are always there supporting this school, I have never seen a church supporting a school like this.” She prayed for God’s continuous blessings on the church to enable her do more.

Mrs. Kaslong noted that the school has undergone positive transformation over the years with the assistance of His Treasure House International Ministries:

“I came here and the school was like an abandoned school, nothing in the classrooms. His Treasure House has been our family, I thank God for all His Treasure House has been doing to help the school. Look at the school, now a very beautiful school, conducive for learning and teaching”.  She expressed hope for the establishment of a junior secondary school in the nearest future as there is currently none in the catchment area.

On his part, Mr Solomon F. Jabi, the Head of Examination Unit, LEA AMAC, appreciated the church’s effort at renovating a block of classrooms and distribution of school materials. He thanked the church, noting that AMAC will respond to some of the proposals the school had raised for some needed amenities.
