Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has affirmed that the actions of councilors who impeached their local government chairmen over corruption allegations are fully legal.
The governor made this statement during a meeting with acting chairmen and councilors from the state’s three senatorial districts, who came to express their support for the new administration.
The acting chairmen assumed office following the impeachment of their predecessors, who were removed due to allegations of fund mismanagement and other issues.
Governor Okpebholo reassured the new leadership of his full support in their efforts to promote local development and ensure success.
Spokespersons for the chairmen from the three districts also pledged their loyalty to the Okpebholo administration.
Additionally, the governor promised to visit the local governments soon to promote rapid grassroots development.
