GOVERNOR MBAH UNVEILS NEW TRACTOR ASSEMBLY PLANT IN ENUGU STATE

A new Tractor Assembly Plant has been unveiled in Enugu state by the Governor, Mr Peter Mbah on Tuesday the 22nd of October which marks a significant development by the ODK Group of Denmark for the state.

The Notra Tractor Assembly Plant and service centre is a step towards growing the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion as envisioned by the Governor.

Governor Mbah stated that this project aims to make Enugu a premier destination for investors and create opportunities for economic growth and employment. He also announced the plan to produce tractors for farming before the end of the year in the state.

The governor had earlier mentioned his administration’s initiative to grow the state’s economy while ensuring food security. While receiving the newly elected president of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, he called on investors to key into the growing investment revolution in the state 

The Governor relished the dream of the state to have at least 1,000 tractors, a dream which they could now fulfill with the new tractor assembling plant. He also called on investors and business men to invest in the state, as they were open for business.

He also said: “We are also interested in working with you collaboratively either as a Joint Venture (JV) or Private Public Partnership (PPP) or even helping you to de-risk the investment flow.

“To the investors, businessmen and women we are interested in listening to your needs and foster a supportive ecosystem for your success,” he added.

Mbah also talked about building a Special Processing Zone which would help scale up production in the agricultural space. 

Concerning roads, he said that his administration would ensure all roads are paved, including access roads to the farmlands. He talked about awarding 141 roads contract as the previous 71 roads were already completed.

He added: “We have some ambitious target in our agricultural sector where we now have over 300,000 hectares of land in our landbank,” he said.

The governor also commissioned the New-Watson Doors Industry, established by a Chinese firm at Nachi, Enugu State. This further highlights his administration’s commitment to attracting diverse investments in the state.

Governor Mbah said these developments demonstrate his government’s efforts to transform Enugu State into a hub for economic growth and development.
