FG meet with leaders of NLC, TUC over state of nation and petrol price

The Federal Government met with the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa over the current state of the nation and the hike in Petrol price.

According to reports, the meeting held at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Present at the meeting are Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, (NSA); Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Labour Minister; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Also present are Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Information Minister; Heineken Lokpobiri, Petroleum Minister, State; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), and representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Limited.

In the last week, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) had announced an adjustment in the pump price of petrol in all their filling stations.

In Lagos, NNPCL outlets now sell a litre of petrol for ₦998, as against the previous price of ₦855. In Abuja, Petrol sells for ₦1,030. This is despite petrol purchase from Dangote Refinery.
