FCT Police Rescue Abducted Residents in Guzape-Abacha Area

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully rescued several residents who were abducted by gunmen near Barracks Bypass in the Guzape-Abacha area of Abuja. The incident occurred on Tuesday when gunmen stormed the community, leaving behind two abandoned vehicles.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focusing on the Lake Chad region, police rescued a lawmaker, Shagala Samuel, in a joint operation on Thursday at 1:33 AM. The lawmaker was freed in Yelwa forest, located near Gbagalape village in the Nyanya Mine area of Nasarawa State.

The rescue operation involved a collaborative effort from the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilante groups. In addition, another victim, identified as Nsiyan Eyang, who had been abducted from near the hills in Nyanya on February 23, was rescued on Wednesday at approximately 8:30 PM.

The police have assured the public that efforts are underway to capture the remaining suspects, with the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) now overseeing the investigation.

FCT Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the authorities for swift intervention.
