EDO GOVT DISCLOSE PLANS TO COMPENSATE STATESMEN THAT HAVE LOST LANDS TO PAST ADMINISTRATION

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Edo state, Samson Osagie has disclosed plans of the Edo State Government to compensate individuals whose lands or properties were illegally taken or destroyed by the immediate past administration led by former Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Justice Osagie made this known in Benin on Monday.

Osagie said that Obaseki’s government acquired some community lands and properties without compensation, stressing that Senator Monday Okpebholo’s administration was already righting the wrongs of the past government to ensure harmony in the state.

According to him, Senator Okpebholo will investigate all complaints and ensure that those who need compensation receive what is due to them.

Osagie said his ministry would thoroughly handle all lawsuits capable of derailing the government to guide against any distractions.

He said, “There are so many landed properties of Edo citizens who have worked hard and invested in the state that were forcefully acquired without compensation.

“This administration is going to make sure owners of such property are compensated while those that need to be released will be handed over to the owners.

“My ministry will provide the legal advice to the governor to ensure governance have a human face devoid of oppression and victim victimization in the state.”
