The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has reaffirmed its leadership team with the unopposed re-election of Dr. Ajuji Ahmed as National Chairman during the party’s National Convention in Abuja on Sunday. The event, monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), also saw Mr. Dipo Olayoku return as National Secretary alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and National Executive Council (NEC).
Dr. Ajuji, addressing delegates after his re-election through voice vote, pledged to steer the party towards achieving its strategic goals, particularly in preparation for the 2027 general elections. “We accept the responsibility entrusted to us to manage the party’s affairs over the next four years. This is a call to service, and we must honour the oath of office we have taken,” he said.
He further encouraged party members to maintain hope and remain committed to building a strong, united, and progressive Nigeria. “The NNPP’s flag must fly higher and higher across every corner of Nigeria to show citizens that a new, prosperous Nigeria is possible, as already demonstrated in Kano State under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf,” Ajuji said.
The National Leader of the party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, congratulated the elected officials and called for loyalty and discipline, emphasising that the NNPP-led administration in Kano State offers a template for governance that Nigerians should anticipate in 2027. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf described the convention as a defining moment, highlighting the importance of unity, fairness, and inclusivity in party affairs.
The convention also ratified the party’s commitment to organisational growth and mass membership mobilisation. The Chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee, Mr. Bala Mohammed, noted that the convention was convened to elect national officials in accordance with the party’s constitution, while National Adviser Mr. Magaji Ibrahim (SAN) dismissed rumours of internal division.
