New reports show that the human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi has been released after meeting his bail conditions.
Remember that he was arrested earlier this month for allegedly defaming Afe Babalola SAN, the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti in his book, ‘Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System’.
His release was confirmed by politician and activist, Omoyele Sowore on his X handle where he said Farotimi was no longer at the prison yard in Ekiti State.
For his bail, he was ordered by a chief Magistrate court to present N30 million, two sureties, one of whom must be a property owner, a submission of Farotimi’s passport and a prohibition of Farotimi granting media interviews once released.
The development comes after former Anambra State governor and politician, Peter Obi, last week, promised to help meet Farotimi’s bail conditions. It is however uncertain if that is the case.
