CSO insist on removal of Kyari of NNPCL over failed promise to fix refineries.

The coalition of civil society groups for transparency and accountability has insisted on the immediate sack of the group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPCL) Mr Mele Kyari for not living up to the promise to ensure a working refinery in the country.

The coalition led by Comrade Danesi Momoh at a press conference held in Abuja on Friday tagged the actions of Kyari and his team as recycling and repeating the failures of previous administration in ensuring working refineries.

Momoh, of the Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative (EUYI) queried that Kyari promised the four national refineries to be working latest 2023. It is a few months to the end of 2024, and none is still working.

He also complained that the NNPCL is off our compass of national development as it “stinks to high heavens”.

He reiterated that the president sacked Mr Kyari and his team for their incompetence and non-diligence.

He advised the government to take lessons from the August protests which led to chaos in the country. He said the continuous tenure of Kyari will lead to “further socio-economic dislocations and consequent unrest.”

He said the next protests for national redemption will start at NNPCL tower if actions are not taken against the CEO.
