Como Joins Everton, Brentford in Race for ₦45 Billion-Rated Super Eagles Midfielder Christantus Uche

Italian Serie A outfit Como are intensifying competition for Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche, as they prepare to challenge English Premier League sides Everton and Brentford for his signature. The 22-year-old standout impressed during his debut La Liga season with Getafe, attracting attention across Europe’s top leagues.

Uche’s move from Spanish third-division side Ceuta to Getafe last summer for a €500,000 fee proved a masterstroke. He quickly cemented his place, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 33 league appearances, showcasing a powerful midfield presence and versatility reminiscent of Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal, who also wears the coveted number 10 jersey like Uche at Getafe.

Reports indicate that besides Everton and Brentford, Como have expressed serious interest in acquiring Uche ahead of the August 31 transfer deadline. Having finished a respectable 10th in their maiden Serie A campaign, Como are keen to strengthen their midfield with Uche’s blend of grit and goal threat. Though valued at around €25 million by Getafe, Como are reportedly prepared to offer €18 million initially.

Despite the interest, Uche remains content at Getafe, where he is a key figure and enjoys considerable responsibility. Unless a compelling offer emerges, the midfielder is expected to stay and build on his breakthrough season.

Kelvin Omachonu, Soccernet.ng correspondent, notes, “Uche’s emergence as a dynamic midfielder capable of driving play and scoring makes him a prized target for ambitious clubs seeking creative firepower.”
