Canada High Commission Responds to Outrage Over General Musa’s Denied Visa

The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria has addressed the growing controversy surrounding the denial of a visa to Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.

On Friday, February 14, the High Commission issued a statement acknowledging media reports about the incident. However, it maintained a stance of privacy regarding the details of individual visa applications.

In a brief post on its official X account, the Commission said it would not comment on the specific visa status of any individuals involved. The statement read: “The High Commission of Canada in Nigeria is aware of media reports related to planned travel to Canada by senior officials. However, for privacy reasons, we are unable to provide any comment on the status of visa applications of specific individuals.”

This response comes amid growing outrage over the denial of General Musa’s visa, which has stirred significant public debate.
