APC Hosts “Peace and Unity” Dinner in Yobe, Hailing Regional Recovery from Insurgency

In a symbolic gesture celebrating the hard-won peace in a region once ravaged by over a decade of insurgency, the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a special end-of-year dinner on Wednesday to honor the restored stability and unity in Northeast Nigeria.

The event, convened in Damaturu by Amb. Emmanuel Ayuba Degubi, JP, the Focal Person on Christians pilgrimage to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, was framed as a direct tribute to the region’s remarkable journey from devastation to recovery.

Ambassador Degubi described the dinner as “astonishing” and a fitting occasion to commemorate the peace and unity that have gradually returned to Yobe and other frontline states.

He emphasized that such an event, focused on fellowship and shared progress, would have been unthinkable during the peak of the violent conflict.Reflecting on the state’s transformation, Degubi specifically commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his pivotal role.

He expressed deep appreciation for the administration’s investments in standardizing education, revolutionizing healthcare, and developing critical infrastructure, which he credited as the pillars bolstering Yobe’s resurgence.

The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board, Dr. Abubakar Kagu, who also attended the dinner, issued a powerful call to action.

He urged all stakeholders from government officials and community leaders to ordinary citizens to actively discharge their responsibility in nurturing the fragile peace.”Yobe State should remain one entity,” Dr. Kagu stated. “We must understand that what affects one, affects all. Building and maintaining this unity is the collective duty of every one of us.”The dinner served not only as a festive gathering but as a reaffirmation of the political and communal commitment to ensuring that the peace achieved in 2025 becomes a lasting foundation for the future of the Northeast.
