Nottingham Forest have officially parted ways with manager Ange Postecoglou following a dismal run of eight matches without a win, culminating in a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea.
The club announced the decision in a brief statement posted on X and its official website, stating:
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.”
Postecoglou’s short-lived tenure lasted just 39 days and yielded no victories — six losses and two draws, including a dramatic Carabao Cup exit to Swansea City, where Forest surrendered a 2-1 lead in stoppage time to lose 3-2. Their only points came from draws against Burnley in the Premier League and Real Betis in the Europa League.
The Greek-Australian coach, who previously managed Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic, had joined Forest in September following the departure of Nuno Espírito Santo. His dismissal marks his second Premier League sacking in four months. He was previously let go by Spurs in June, just 16 days after leading them to a historic Europa League title — their first trophy in 17 years — with a 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao.
Despite that success, Postecoglou’s return to Premier League management was marred by poor form and mounting pressure. Two weeks ago, he insisted he was unfazed by speculation about his job security, even after a 3-2 home loss to Midtjylland in the Europa League.
Forest currently sit 17th in the Premier League table with just five points from eight games one win, two draws, and five defeats and are now searching for their third manager in less than five months.
The club has yet to announce a replacement or interim manager.
