Actor and filmmaker Funke Akindele was among the notable guests at celebrated chef Hilda Baci’s remarkable attempt to cook the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
The event, hosted at Lagos’ Eko Hotel and Suites, drew throngs of attendees eager to witness this culinary spectacle. The giant cooking pot measured six metres wide and 1.3 metres deep — a truly impressive feat designed to prepare over 5,000 kilograms of jollof rice.
Celebrated for previously setting a Guinness World Record with a 100-hour cook-a-thon in 2023, Hilda Baci sought to push the boundaries once more by honouring Nigeria’s rich food culture. “Almost two years ago, I dreamed of cooking the largest pot of Jollof rice ever made. Now, with GinoNaija and YOU, that dream is coming alive,” she shared on Instagram ahead of the event.
Funke Akindele’s presence added star power to the occasion, which featured live social media streaming allowing fans across the globe to partake virtually in the celebration of Nigerian cuisine and heritage.
