Super Eagles Open Uyo Camp as Rwanda Set for Tuesday Arrival

The Super Eagles will settle into camp in Uyo today ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifying clash against Rwanda, while their East African opponents are scheduled to arrive Nigeria on Tuesday.

Nigeria must win Saturday’s game to stay in contention for a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, before travelling to face South Africa three days later.

Head coach Eric Chelle confirmed a 23-man squad for the qualifiers. Victor Boniface is missing from the list, while goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and captain William Troost-Ekong headline the call-up.

The Nigeria Football Federation said preparations are already in motion for Rwanda’s visit. “A one-man advance party will be in Lagos on Monday, but the full delegation will arrive on Tuesday aboard a Rwanda Airlines flight and head to Uyo the same day,” the NFF explained in a statement.

Group C remains tight after six matches. South Africa top the pool with 13 points, while Rwanda and Benin Republic are level on eight. Nigeria sit fourth with seven points, just ahead of Lesotho on six and Zimbabwe on four.

The Amavubi will play bottom-placed Zimbabwe in their next fixture, while Nigeria face group leaders South Africa in Bloemfontein.

The Eagles will wrap up their campaign against Lesotho away and Benin Republic at home in October.
