EFCC Interrogates Former Minister Uju Kennedy Ohanenye Over Alleged Misappropriation of Funds

Former Minister for Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, on Thursday, was grilled by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding her alleged involvement in the misappropriation and diversion of public funds.

Reports indicate that Ohanenye, who was dismissed from her position by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is being investigated for her role in the mismanagement of N138,413,253.89 (approximately 138 million naira). The alleged misconduct occurred during the disbursement of the 2023 budgeted funds for the Ministry of Women Affairs.

Ohanenye arrived at the EFCC headquarters at 11:00 am on Thursday to face questioning over the allegations. According to EFCC investigations, funds intended for the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative were reportedly diverted for her personal gain.

The investigation is still ongoing, and as of now, Ohanenye has not been granted administrative bail.
