Nigeria Secures Hosting Rights for Afreximbank Annual Meetings 2025

Nigeria has officially been selected to host the 2025 Afreximbank Annual Meetings (AAM2025) in Abuja, reinforcing the country’s role as a key player in African trade and economic growth. The announcement was made after a signing ceremony at the Ministry of Finance Headquarters in Abuja, with Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Finance Minister, and Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank, formalizing the agreement.

This major event, scheduled for June 23-27, 2025, is expected to attract over 5,000 delegates and will focus on enhancing trade financing, fostering economic growth, and creating investment opportunities across Africa. Edun emphasized that the meetings would serve as a critical platform to advance trade discussions and solidify Nigeria’s position as a hub for economic transformation.

Highlighting the importance of the event, Edun noted that hosting the Afreximbank meetings reflects the Nigerian government’s commitment to strengthening Africa’s financial sector. The government is confident that Nigeria is fully prepared to host such a prestigious gathering, which will boost cross-border trade and reinforce the country’s standing as a global investment destination.

Afreximbank President Benedict Oramah expressed his appreciation for Nigeria’s leadership in driving trade and economic development. He also highlighted that the decision to grant Nigeria the hosting rights was a clear show of trust in the nation’s government and economy.

The AAM2025 will also mark a significant moment for Oramah, who is set to retire after a decade of steering Afreximbank. His leadership has played a crucial role in shaping the bank’s strategic direction and promoting intra-African trade and industrialization.
