ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY: REPS EXTEND GREETINGS TO THE ARMED FORCES

While the Armed forces of Nigeria commemorate their fallen counterparts, the House of Representatives has extended felicitations to them for their efforts in keeping the nation safe and secure.

The Green Chamber said the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day was a profound occasion to honour the brave men and women of the military who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

This was contained in a statement from the House spokesman, Akin Rotimi, on Wednesday.

Members of the House pledged to support all policies that would enhance the efficiency of the military in the discharge of their duties.

“Their unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty, peace, and freedom continues to inspire us all.

“As a parliament, we remain deeply appreciative of the relentless efforts of our military personnel in combating the multifaceted security challenges threatening our nation.

Their bravery on the frontlines fortifies our collective resolve and is vital to ensuring the peace and stability we strive for,” it read.

In his message, the Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, stated that Nigerians remain eternally grateful to members of the Armed Forces who paid the supreme price in the bid to protect their countrymen.

He assured that the 10th House remains committed to prioritizing security and supporting safety agencies, with the protection and welfare of the citizenry being the government’s foremost responsibility.

Speaker Abbas reiterated that there cannot be economic growth and stability without the safety of lives and investments, and stressed that security is a collective responsibility of all citizens and not government agencies alone.

He called for greater support and cooperation for the Armed Forces in their tireless pursuit to ensure the protection of lives and property across the nation.

“As we reflect on the sacrifices made by our gallant men and women in uniform, we also remember the families they left behind, whose lives have been irrevocably impacted by their loss.

“The 10th House of Representatives reaffirms its commitment to supporting policies and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the families of fallen heroes, as well as enhancing the living conditions of veterans and serving personnel.

“May the sacrifices of our fallen heroes never be in vain, and may their legacy continue to inspire us all to work towards building a nation worthy of their ultimate sacrifice,” Abbas said.
