HELICOPTER CRASH IN AKWA IBOM CLAIMS LIVES OF SIX OIL WORKERS AND TWO CREW MEMBERS

A tragic helicopter crash in Akwa Ibom State has reportedly claimed the lives of six oil workers and two crew members. The incident occurred while the workers were involved in operations at the OML 123 oil field.

The helicopter plunged into the Atlantic Ocean around 11:40 am, during activities on the Mimbo platform and the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.

According to a source, “There were eight people onboard, including six oil workers and two crew members. So far, three bodies have been recovered, and search and rescue efforts are ongoing.”

The helicopter, which was operated by Eastwind Aviation, was engaged in transporting personnel when the crash took place, leaving the oil community in shock as recovery operations continue.
