Tinubu Swears In Disu As New Inspector-General of Police

President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Olatunji Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

The oath of office was administered to the new police chief at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, shortly before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

Disu’s confirmation comes just days after he was appointed in an acting capacity on February 25, 2026. He took over the reins from former IGP Kayode Egbetokun following the latter’s resignation. At a brief handover ceremony held at the Louis Edet House in Abuja last week, the new IGP pledged to focus on providing accountable, modern, and professional policing for the nation.

In addition to the IGP, the President also administered the oath of office to six new Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and two Commissioners for the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC).

The swearing-in ceremonies, which were witnessed by ministers, senior government officials, and family members of the appointees, preceded the commencement of the FEC meeting.

Dignitaries present at the event included Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu; and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Esther Walson-Jack.
