In a major step toward recovery and resettlement, the Federal Government has commissioned new housing, a hospital, and school facilities for the Tudun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The project is designed to support communities affected by insurgency and military mishaps.
Vice President Kashim Shettima inaugurated the 133 housing units and other modern facilities describing the development as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pledge to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians impacted by conflict and accidental tragedies.The resettlement initiative aims to provide durable solutions for displaced families, ensuring access to quality healthcare, standard education, and dignified housing.

During the ceremony, Vice President Shettima reiterated the administration’s commitment to “cushioning the hardship faced by communities that have lost loved ones,” specifically referencing last year’s drone misfiring incident in Tudun Biri.Among the beneficiaries is Mallam Isa, who lost three children in the December 2023 tragedy.
At the event, he expressed his continued grief but also thanked the Federal Government for the gesture.“No compensation can replace the lives of my children,” he stated, “but this support gives us hope and a place to rebuild.”The project comes seven months after a military drone accidentally struck Tudun Biri during a religious gathering on December 3, 2023.

The mishap resulted in significant civilian casualties, with many killed and others sustaining severe injuries. The incident drew national and international condemnation and prompted calls for improved operational protocols and victim support.The newly built infrastructure is part of the “Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict,” aimed at fostering sustainable rehabilitation and restoring normalcy to vulnerable communities in Kaduna and other conflict-affected regions.
