Kano violent protest: Security Forces failed to act on intelligence before the protest – Emir Sanusi

Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has revealed that failure of security agents  to act on intelligence received led to violence and destruction of properties by bad elements during the #endbadgovernance protest in Kano.

The #endbadgovernance protest was organized to be a peaceful nation wide protest but turned violent in some states like Kano, Lagos, Kaduna, Yobe, Borno,  Gombe.

The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) industrial digital Park set for commissioning was looted and set ablaze. The centre was designed to train about three million youths and generate job opportunities.

The oldest printing press in Kano State was also destroyed during the protest. The Emir lamented the destruction of the printing press explaining that his great-grandfather and grandfather worked at the printing press which was built in 1933.

He regretted the level of destruction done on the government owned printing press, decrying the alleged inability of security personal to stop the destruction despite prior notice.

While inspecting the multimillion facilities destroyed destroyed at the Kano printing press, he said ” before this happened, the security operatives were notified in writing that there were signals of a possible attack on the printing press during the protest. But no action or precaution was taken to prevent it from happening. Unfortunately, it was allowed to happen.”

He however said he believed that the sponsors of the violent protest would be exposed.

He advised Kano youths to guard against enemies of progress that Intend to use them for destructive agendas.
