The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), in partnership with its technical sponsor PUMA, has unveiled a special commemorative edition of the official match ball for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 final.
The specially designed ball will be used on Sunday when host nation Morocco faces defending champions Senegal at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT), with the winner set to be crowned African champions.
CAF confirmed on its official website on Friday that the finalists will compete with a unique gold-accented version of the tournament’s official match ball, ITRI, created to mark the occasion of the final and honour both teams’ progression to the decisive match.
The ITRI ball has served as the official match ball throughout the tournament, from the group stage to the semi-finals. Its design draws inspiration from Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, particularly traditional zellij—the intricate mosaic tilework that has been a defining feature of Moroccan architecture for centuries.
The ball incorporates central star geometry, floral motifs and circular symmetry, hallmarks of zellij craftsmanship, reflecting a deliberate blend of cultural identity and contemporary sports design.
Beyond its visual appeal, the ITRI ball is built on PUMA’s advanced Orbita 6 technology, engineered to meet the performance demands of elite international football. The technology is designed to deliver enhanced flight stability, durability and consistency—key attributes in high-level competition.
“Built on PUMA’s advanced Orbita 6 technology, the ball combines heritage with innovation, meeting the performance standards required for elite-level competition while celebrating African culture,” CAF stated.
The commemorative ball forms part of CAF’s broader commercial and technical partnership with PUMA, which has supplied official match balls and technical equipment for the Africa Cup of Nations. Earlier in the tournament cycle, both organisations unveiled the standard ITRI ball for use across the competition.
The TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 has been characterised by competitive football and high-scoring encounters across its stages. Sunday’s final will determine the continent’s new champion and add another chapter to the tournament’s rich history.
For Morocco, the final presents an opportunity to capitalise on home advantage and secure continental glory in front of their supporters. Senegal, meanwhile, will be aiming to retain their title and further consolidate their status as one of Africa’s leading football nations.
