President Bola Tinubu positioned Nigeria as a leading hub for climate action and green energy investment during a keynote address at the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
Addressing a high-level session of global leaders, investors, and policymakers, the President outlined a comprehensive suite of national reforms designed to translate climate ambition into tangible economic growth and sustainable development.
“At this defining moment, Nigeria stands with the global community to align climate action with energy access, economic growth, and social inclusion,” stated President Tinubu. He emphasized that sustainability requires integrated progress across finance, technology, infrastructure, and human capital.
The President detailed Nigeria’s concrete regulatory steps to strengthen climate governance, including adoption of a National Carbon Market Activation Policy, launch of National Carbon Registry to enhance emissions reporting.
President Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s deployment of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to optimize energy efficiency and accelerate clean energy delivery. He framed the nation’s Energy Transition Plan as an integrated blueprint targeting net-zero emissions while simultaneously achieving universal energy access and industrial growth.
