Heavy security presence was observed at the Kano State Government House on Monday as a combined team of police officers and Department of State Services DSS personnel secured the premises with at least seven Armoured Personnel Carriers.
Security operatives cordoned off strategic areas around the Government House, including the main gate and the adjoining roundabout, while access into the complex was restricted. Only individuals with proper identification were allowed entry, as checks were strictly enforced.
Although the state government has yet to issue an official statement, reports suggest that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is considering defecting to the All Progressives Congress APC.
This follows reports circulated in December 2025 indicating that the Kano State governor was preparing to leave his current party for the APC.
