Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressed profound shock and sorrow on Thursday following the sudden and tragic deaths of two serving members of the State House of Assembly within a matter of minutes.
The governor described the dual loss as a profound “test of faith” for the state and called for unity and prayer among the populace.
The deceased legislators were Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, who represented Kano Municipal Local Government Area, and Hon. Aminu Sa’adu, the member representing Ungoggo Local Government Area. Both were members of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the state.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf conveyed his deep pain over the incident, stating that the near-simultaneous departure of the two lawmakers has created a significant void in the state’s legislative and political landscape.
“The sudden demise of Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji and Hon. Aminu Sa’adu is a heavy blow to our state. It is a moment that tests our collective faith and resilience,” Governor Yusuf said.
He urged the people of Kano to remain calm, steadfast in prayer, and united in support of the families of the deceased and the state at large during this difficult period.
Both lawmakers were laid to rest in Kano on accordance with Islamic rites, attended by family members, colleagues, government officials, and members of the public.
