The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to appear before its investigators today, Friday, November 28, 2025.
The invitation, contained in a letter dated November 24 and signed by Sunday Atiba Ofen-Imu on behalf of EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, asked Malami to report at the commission’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
“The Commission is investigating a case which the need to obtain certain information from you becomes imperative,” the letter read.
It cited Section 38(1) and (2) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2024, as the legal basis for the summons.
The EFCC did not disclose the specific case or allegations under investigation.
Malami, who served as AGF throughout former President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year tenure, has confirmed receiving the letter and pledged full cooperation.
In a statement issued Friday morning, the former minister said:
“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation.”
He added that transparency and accountability in public service remain principles he has always championed and will continue to uphold.
