APC declares congress timetable circulating online ‘fake’, cautions Nigerians

The All Progressives Congress has disowned a document circulating on social media claiming to be the party’s official timetable for nationwide congresses, warning Nigerians to disregard it as fake.

The disputed timetable, which went viral on Sunday, was labelled “Draft” and outlined schedules for the ruling party’s congresses across the country, including prices for nomination forms for various party positions.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, issued a statement on Sunday distancing the APC from the document.

“The attention of the All Progressives Congress has been drawn to ‘APC 2025 Schedule of Nationwide Congresses and Related Activities’ widely in circulation on social media,” Morka said.

“Our great Party wishes to clarify that the purported Schedule of Activities for Congresses was neither made nor authorised by the party and should be disregarded as fake news.”

The fake timetable had generated considerable attention amongst party members and political observers before the official denial was issued.

Morka urged party members and the general public to depend only on official communication channels for authentic information about the party’s internal activities.

The APC has not announced when it will release the authentic timetable for its congresses and related activities.

Political analysts say the circulation of fake party documents has become increasingly common on social media platforms, often causing confusion amongst party faithful and the public.

The party did not indicate whether it would take any action against those responsible for creating and circulating the fake document.
