Victor Osimhen continued his remarkable form, helping Galatasaray recover from an early setback to secure a 3–1 win over Göztepe at RAMS Park on Sunday.
It was a shaky start for the home side as Göztepe’s Efkan Bekiroğlu stunned the hosts with a goal just six minutes into the match. However, Galatasaray responded quickly, thanks to Osimhen, who capitalised on a defensive mistake to level the score in the 19th minute. The goal marked his third league strike of the season.
“That’s the way I like to play – take advantage of mistakes,” Osimhen remarked after the match. “The team supported me, and I’m happy to contribute to the win.”
Galatasaray seized control after the break, with Gabriel Sara putting them ahead and Mauro Icardi sealing the deal. Göztepe managed to get one back but were unable to stop the hosts from claiming all three points.
The victory strengthens Galatasaray’s hold on the top spot in the Turkish Super Lig, now boasting 28 points, five ahead of second-placed Trabzonspor. Meanwhile, Göztepe, despite the defeat, remain in a respectable fifth position with 16 points.
Osimhen’s goal followed a stellar performance earlier in the week, when his brace had guided Galatasaray to a 3–1 win over Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League, underlining his importance to the team this season.
