In a candid interview with Urban Radio in Enugu, Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has openly declared Burna Boy as the number one artist in the country at the moment. The ‘African Queen’ crooner spoke passionately about his admiration for Burna Boy, referring to him as a leader in his generation.
2Baba made the declaration while discussing the growing list of Nigerian musical talents who have made an impact globally. “For me, on a personal level, Burna Boy is my number one,” 2Baba stated confidently, further emphasizing his point by saying, “Among all the others, he’s the senior among the people I’m referring to.”
Although he praised other artists like Wizkid, Davido, and Tiwa Savage, 2Baba admitted the dilemma of choosing just one, acknowledging the wealth of musical talent in Nigeria. “We have so many superstars out of one country. Yo! So that’s my dilemma,” he said.
Reflecting on the different approaches Nigerian artists take in building their careers, 2Baba highlighted the diversity of talents and styles within the industry. “Some are simply hardworking, others focus on commercial music, while some have raw talent and stick to their unique style,” he explained. He praised the industry for producing so many artists who have reached the top.
